THE CLOCK · PUBLIC DIAGNOSIS Nº 002 TERMINAL v6.0 · PUBLIC MODE
SUBJECT — THE PANT PROJECT · pantproject.com · MUMBAI
A ₹109-crore growth story, wearing a discount store's clothes.
Eight days after a Series B that national media covered in a day, the company's own
storefront still opens with a buy-one-get-one offer. This diagnosis measures that distance —
department by department, on public evidence only, with every finding sourced, graded and
triangulated by the PRISHIN Terminal v6 before it is allowed to score.
DIAGNOSIS DATEWednesday, 28 October 2026

The Scoreboard
Gap Scores are computed by the Terminal from verified findings only — sourced findings
are shown but never scored; unverified findings never ship as fact.
64 / 100
Company Signal Score — higher means a bigger measured gap between what the company is
and what its signals say. Computed over the 7 departments that produced verified
evidence: Brand, Product, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Customer Experience, Finance Narrative. Hiring is excluded — its only evidence
sits on third-party job boards, below the verification bar, so the Terminal shows it
but will not score it.

Reality vs. The First Screen
What is true of the company this month — against what its own homepage says to a visitor today.
THE REALITY — VERIFIED, OCTOBER 2026
₹109 crore Series BLed by Mirae Asset Venture Investments (India), announced 19 Oct 2026; Sorin Investments and others participated; venture debt from Alteria Capital.
D2C Brand of the Year 2026Named by Myntra at Myntra Tech Threads 2026, September 2026 — with 10x growth on Myntra over two years, in the founder's own words.
25 stores → 150 plannedOffline-first expansion over 2–3 years, into jeans, athleisure and casualwear — the stated use of the new capital.
Revenue up 5x+ since Series AFY25 ₹40.7 Cr; FY26 crossed ₹80 Cr (company figures); the raise equals ~2.7x FY25 revenue.
THE FIRST SCREEN — PANTPPROJECT.COM, 28 OCT 2026
“BLACK BEST SELLERS”A product grid. Strikethrough prices on every card: ₹2,590 against ₹4,990, ₹1,990 against ₹2,990.
“BUY 1 GET 1 FREE”The top announcement bar (27 Oct) and a B1G1 badge inside the grid — the loudest sentence on the page is an offer.
“SIGNUP & GET 15% OFF”The footer banner. The second-loudest sentence is also an offer.
No raise. No award. No stores story.Zero mentions of the Series B, Mirae Asset, the Myntra award, or the expansion plan anywhere on the homepage.
03
Department Diagnoses
Every finding carries its evidence tier, source grade outcome, confidence and gap type.
Conflicts are recorded with both values — never averaged away.
The homepage sells discounts, not the company. On 28 Oct 2026 its first screen is a 'BLACK BEST SELLERS' product grid with strikethrough prices and a BUY 1 GET 1 FREE badge; the 27 Oct check recorded the top bar 'BUY 1 GET 1 FREE - EXCLUSIVE OFFER' and a footer banner 'SIGNUP & GET 15% OFF'. None of the company's three proof stories — the Rs 109 Cr Series B (19 Oct), the Myntra 'D2C Brand of the Year 2026' award (Sep), or the 25-to-150 store plan — appears anywhere on it.

globalgrowthforum.com — Myntra Tech Threads award release, 18 Sep 2026
The founding differentiator has been edited out of the first screen. The custom-made offer is real and deep — the FAQ details waist 28-50, inseam 25-36, fit, rise and monogramming, set on the product page — but on the homepage 'Custom Made Pants' survives only in the page title, while the grid presents fit technology (Malai, Inklock) as ordinary SKUs under discount badges. The asset exists; its placement is the gap.
SOURCES
pantproject.com — homepage, fetched live 26, 27 and 28 Oct 2026
The story exists — on the founder's channel, not the brand's. Dhruv Toshniwal's LinkedIn announcement (19 Oct) tells the raise completely: capital use, product credit, partners. A customer arriving from that post lands on a sale grid that repeats none of it, so the company perceived on LinkedIn and the company perceived on the storefront are two different companies.
SOURCES
LinkedIn — Dhruv Toshniwal, fundraise announcement post, 19 Oct 2026
pantproject.com — homepage, fetched live 26, 27 and 28 Oct 2026
Two genuine product technologies carry the growth story in press and in the founder's telling — Malai power-stretch pants and Inklock No Fade jeans (denim grew from zero to a fifth of sales in 18 months, per StartupFeed's account) — but on the homepage they sit as grid items among sweatpants and shorts, dressed in the same discount furniture as every commodity SKU.
SOURCES
pantproject.com — homepage, fetched live 26, 27 and 28 Oct 2026
LinkedIn — Dhruv Toshniwal, fundraise announcement post, 19 Oct 2026
Product proof is strong where it is shown: homepage ratings run 4.5-4.8 stars with review counts in the hundreds to over a thousand (Inklock jeans: 4.8 stars, 1,102 reviews). The ordering is the gap — price cuts are typeset above the proof, so price, not proof, leads perception.
SOURCES
pantproject.com — homepage, fetched live 26, 27 and 28 Oct 2026
The growth engine the capital bought is offline: 25 exclusive stores to 150 in 2-3 years, 'offline expansion first' in the founder's words. The homepage — the brand's highest-traffic owned surface — carries no store story: no expansion narrative, no opening announcements, nothing that shows a visitor stores are the strategy (a ticker lists store cities; 27 Oct check).

Economic Times (ETRetail / ETEntrepreneur) — Series B coverage, 19 Oct 2026
LinkedIn — Dhruv Toshniwal, fundraise announcement post, 19 Oct 2026
Discount-first merchandising trains the behaviour the raise says it will retire. The founder's announcement lists 'brand building' among the uses of the Rs 109 Cr, while every first-screen cue on the storefront — B1G1, strikethrough MRP, a 15% signup discount — teaches visitors to buy on offer, not on brand.
SOURCES
pantproject.com — homepage, fetched live 26, 27 and 28 Oct 2026
LinkedIn — Dhruv Toshniwal, fundraise announcement post, 19 Oct 2026
Earned media did its job and the owned surface dropped the hand-off. The raise was covered nationally within a day (Economic Times, Hindu BusinessLine, Mint, Inc42); anyone who clicked through to pantproject.com met a sale grid containing none of the story they had just read about.

Economic Times (ETRetail / ETEntrepreneur) — Series B coverage, 19 Oct 2026
Inc42 — funding tracker and raise recap, 19 Oct 2026
The brand's own amplification of the raise lives on LinkedIn (company page, ~7,877 followers, sharing the funding coverage) — proof held on a rented surface. No equivalent proof asset exists on the owned site for the same visitor a week later.
SOURCES
LinkedIn — The Pant Project company page, funding post, 19 Oct 2026
The operational promise is public and extreme — 125 additional stores in 2-3 years, roughly one opening every six to nine days — yet no owned surface narrates execution: no openings log, no city-by-city rollout story, nothing by which the promise can be watched being kept.
SOURCES
Economic Times (ETRetail / ETEntrepreneur) — Series B coverage, 19 Oct 2026
Inc42 — funding tracker and raise recap, 19 Oct 2026
A real operational asset is buried in the FAQ: an in-house factory in Daman, SEDEX and WRAP Gold certified, making pants from Banswara Syntex fabrics — a mill the FAQ notes supplies global brands. It is told once, deep in the site, and nowhere on the homepage, where it would directly carry the fit-and-fabric claim.

Hiring
NOT MEASURED
No verified public evidence exists for this department in this run. The Terminal reports it unscored — never as zero, never as an estimate.
The hiring is real; the employer signal is rented and stale. Live listings in the last month hire for exactly what the raise funds — a Social Media Manager (Shine, 'actively hiring'), a Senior Graphic Designer (recruit.net), a warehouse lead at Hoskote (foundit), plus store managers and fashion consultants in careers roundups — yet the company's own web has no careers page at all, and its Wellfound profile shows zero jobs and an 11-50 headcount while job boards describe 51-200 employees. Every source for this finding is a third-party board (grade C), so under the triangulation rule it is SOURCED — shown, never scored — until a primary or two reputable sources carry it.

Wellfound — The Pant Project company page (11-50 employees; no jobs added), read 28 Oct 2026
Customers already believe. Hero products carry 4.5-4.8-star ratings with review counts past a thousand, the homepage claims '1 MILLION+ HAPPY CUSTOMERS' (27 Oct check), and investor Sorin publicly credits 'industry-leading repeat rates'. Satisfaction is not the gap; the signal order is — discount furniture sits above this proof at every point of sale.
SOURCES
pantproject.com — homepage, fetched live 26, 27 and 28 Oct 2026
LinkedIn — Sorin Investments, Series B post, Oct 2026
The deepest satisfaction proof the company owns never reaches the homepage: its store locator pages carry 4.9-star ratings store by store, with review counts in the hundreds per store (Jayanagar 1,333; Forum South 875; HSR 860; M5 E-City 752). A homepage visitor is shown a discount; a store-page visitor is shown near-perfect local proof.
SOURCES
stores.pantproject.com — store locator pages, read 28 Oct 2026
The category's founding friction — 'it started with pants that didn't fit', the brand's own origin line in current coverage — gets no answer on the homepage: no fit-guidance story, no fit finder, no made-to-measure narrative at the point where fit anxiety decides the purchase.
SOURCES
pantproject.com — homepage, fetched live 26, 27 and 28 Oct 2026
Inc42 — funding tracker and raise recap, 19 Oct 2026
The financial story is strong everywhere except where the company controls the telling: FY25 revenue Rs 40.7 Cr, FY26 crossed Rs 80 Cr (company figures carried by the award release and coverage), revenue up more than 5x since the 2024 Series A per investor Sorin (via Inc42), and a raise equal to roughly 2.7x FY25 revenue. None of it appears on owned surfaces; a partner or investor landing on the site meets a discount store, not a growth company.

The company disagrees with itself about how many stores it has — three times over. Press coverage and the amplified funding story say 25 exclusive stores; the company's own FAQ says 21 brand stores; the founder's announcement post and the homepage say '20+'. All three numbers are public, attributed and unreconciled. A reader cannot tell which is the company's own count — on the very number its expansion story stands on.

Evidence Appendix
How a finding earns its state. Grade A = primary (the company's own
surfaces, filings, PRISHIN survey data). Grade B = reputable secondary. Grade C = weak or unknown.
VERIFIED = one grade-A source, or two independent grade-B sources.
Below that bar, a finding is SOURCED — displayed, never scored. With no source it is UNVERIFIED —
displayed, never scored, never stated as fact. Department Gap Score = severity-weighted mean of
verified findings only, 0–100, higher = bigger gap. A department with no verified findings is
reported unscored.
